Motors

Machines are to be based on handheld power tools. A handheld power tool is a machine intended for handheld operation by one individual.  A machine primarily used on a stationary mount, or rolled on wheels, or used by a group of people is not a hand tool for the purposes of this event. This event is limited to hand tools powered by standard 1700 watt 120 AC electric power cords. Examples of hand tools are machines like belt sanders, angle grinders, circular saws, drills, chainsaws, weed wackers, etc. Examples of things that are NOT hand tools are things like lawnmowers, floor sanders, generators, bench grinders, etc. No vehicles built from RC cars allowed, because they are designed to propel themselves and are less likely to cause mayhem.

Power Source

AC electrical cords will be provided per lane, originating at the starting line. They will have standard Edison 3-prong connectors. You will be responsible for "coiling" the cord on the ground or laying it alongside the track for your run. No spools or cord guides allowed, but duct tape can be used to tape the connector together. Tangles or poor cord feed is your responsibility.

Eligibility

Eligible machines are single engine power tools with no motor modifications or non-standard power sources (i.e. engine and power source needs to be box stock). Propulsion can be direct drive to track via the original blades (see wheel requirements), belts, etc, or via custom gear/chain/tire configurations. Frames, wheels, guide rails, etc can be added as desired.   All "motors" must have originated in a hand power tool and be in their original form, with original power source driving it.

Wheels

Wheels may be anything BUT a saw blade.  A saw blade is defined as anything that resembles a circular saw blade large or small that is a steal blade with cutting teeth.  Wire brush, grinding discs, sanding belts, rubber wheels, etc. are all acceptable for track contact.  Saw blades tear up the track, stop the racing and thus end the fun.

Classes

There will be 2 major classes this year:  Belt Sander class and the Power Class.  Belt Sander being all hand held belt-sanding tools and the Power class is everything else.

Registration

Due to the nature of the event these machines can be very fast and very dangerous. ALL entries for any class MUST CHECK IN FOR TECH INSPECTION prior to racing to make sure they will stay on the track and out of the audience. We also reserve the right to say "NO, UNSAFE" at any time for whatever reason(s) we find relevant.  Your “registration” fee is a donation to the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.  It is a non-refundable donation, which can be tax deductable.  By signing the registration form you are agreeing to follow the rules and appear to participate.  If your car, does not show up, does not comply with the rules, or is not safe, your donation to the American Cancer Society will not be refunded.

Early registration deadline for is March 31th and any forms received there after will be regular registration.

  4. Typically people simply need to make sure both cylindrical rollers this sanding belt is placed with stop in perfect positioning. In the event the rollers aren't precisely parallel, this belt won't monitor involved with this rollers and can ease away from.

  7. Belt Sander is ideal for woodworkers, carpenters, furniture makers, floor installers, deck builders. I usually use Belt Sander model 9403, combines power and speed with ease-of-use features and less noise for fast and efficient stock removal.
